Cello

Pool, a native of Phoenix, has been playing cello in The Phoenix Symphony continually since 1970. Her study of cello began at the age of 10 in the Phoenix public schools. Florence attended Arizona State University, the University of Utah and Whittier College, from which she graduated with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts.

Other orchestras in which Florence has played include the Phoenix Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Arizona All-State Orchestra, the ASU Symphony Orchestra, the Music Academy of the West Orchestra, the Whittier Symphony and the Flagstaff Festival Orchestra. In June 1996, she played two performances of Wagner's opera "The Ring" in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Florence's additional musical experience and training comes from participating in the Fine Arts Quartet seminar in Milwaukee, auditing six Piatigorsky seminars at the University of Southern California and participating in cello master classes given by Ron Leonard, Raya Garbousova and Bernard Greenhouse.

Florence has also worked as an ASCP registered medical technologist. Her hobbies include hiking and bicycling.
